Richard has more than 35 years of legal experience, including over two decades of civil litigation and jury trials.  He became a mediator in 1999, and since then has conducted nearly 3,500 mediation conferences and other proceedings.  In 2014, Richard opened his own firm devoted exclusively to dispute resolution.

Richard grew up in Lancaster County, where he attended South Carolina public schools.  He graduated The Citadel and the University of South Carolina School of Law before moving to Florence to begin his legal career.  Richard is an active member of St. John's Anglican Church.
