Biography

Ms. Langbein has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1980. She began her career as an Assistant City Attorney and then as the Deputy City Attorney for the City of Hollywood, Florida. She then joined the law firm of Valde-Fauli, Cobb & Petrey and undertook the role of outside general counsel for Florida International University, an institution of the State University System. She served in that capacity for nearly ten years and then established the law firm of Langbein & Langbein, P.A. Ms. Langbein became Board Certified in the area of Labor & Employment Law in 2001 and continues to maintain that distinction. Ms. Langbein is admitted to practice before the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. She has tried numerous employment cases to verdict in the Southern District. Ms. Langbein also has practiced before the EEOC, the Florida Commission on Human Rights, local agencies and the Florida DOAH. She now devotes all of her practice to neutral work, including service as a mediator, arbitrator, hearing officer, and fact-finder. She has been designated as a "SuperLawyer" by Superlawyer Magazine each year since 2009.  She is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.   

Ms. Langbein has been an arbitrator for over thirty years. She is a member of the American Arbitration Association's national panels of Labor, Employment, Commercial and Consumer arbitrators. She also is a member of the AHLA's arbitration and mediation panels and FMCS's national panel of labor arbitrators. Ms. Langbein serves on several permanent panels including the State of Florida/FNA and the University of South Florida/UFF. She has arbitrated cases in the following sectors or industries: health care, hospitality, sports administration, securities, higher education, K-12 education, transportation, public sector, ironworkers, spirits, consumers, religious institutions, retail, sales, banking and credit. She is a Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator and also serves as a private judge. She has served as  panel chair, panel member and single arbitrator. She also has served as an investigator/fact finder for corporations performing internal investigations.  

Ms. Langbein has been a Florida Certified Circuit/Civil mediator since 1996. She concentrates her mediation practice in employment, fair housing, ADA and insurance matters. She has mediated over 1800 cases. Ms. Langbein is approved mediator for the Southern and Middle District Courts of the United States District Courts of Florida, the American Arbitration Association and the American Health Law Association’s national panels of mediators and the Florida Department of Insurance's panel for insurance claims.

Rates

Commercial and Employment Arbitrations:

Hearing: $3500.00/day (up to 7 hours); Study time: $500.00/hr.; Travel time: $150.00/hr. (no charge for Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach Counties); Cancellation Fee: $500.00/Day for each reserved hearing day if notice is not received at least 30 calendar days before first hearing date. Travel expenses such as airfare, mileage, parking, meals, hotel and business expenses are charged as incurred and include non-refundable expenses.

Labor Arbitrations:

Hearing: $1950.00/day (Up to 7 hours); Study time: $278.57/hr.;Travel time: $150.00/hr. (no charge for Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach Counties or locations specified with FMCS); Cancellation Fee: $250.00/day for each reserved hearing day if notice is not received at least 10 calendar days before first hearing date. Travel expenses such as airfare, mileage, parking, meals, hotel and business expenses are charged as incurred and include non-refundable expenses (except for locations specified with FMCS)

Mediations:

$450.00/hr. (3-hour minimum) split between parties, including time reviewing mediation summaries. Attorneys are responsible for paying mediator fees and are cautioned to make prior arrangements with their client to ensure the client has financial means to reimburse them. Payment due on completion of mediation.
