Hayden Lait has been in the private practice of law since 1975 with an emphasis on commercial, personal injury, and domestic litigation. Since 1995 his emphasis has been on mediation. Until May, 2000 he was certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the State of Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Due to the change in focus of his practice from litigation to mediation he has not maintained his certification. He was an Honorary & Emeritus  Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and served as President from 2005 to 2007. He is AV rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell. Hayden is an approved arbitrator and a certified mediator by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. He is listed by the Tennessee Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission as a Rule 31 mediator and is a member of the mediation panel for U.S. District Courts, Western District of Tennessee. Since 1994, he has participated in excess of 600 hours of mediation training as a trainer and participant, and has conducted over 2,200 mediations. He  served as chairperson of the ADR Committee of the Memphis Bar Association for 4 years. From 1997 to 2019 Hayden was an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis School of Law teaching negotiation and mediation skills. In January 2002 he was appointed by the Supreme Court of TN to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission and served as Chairperson from January 2006 to March 2012. His term expired in December 2015.

MEDIATION FEES: Mediation fee per mediation (up to 3 parties) is $1,000.00 for one-half day and $2,000.00 for one whole day. For 4 or more parties the half day fee per party is $375 or $750 for a whole day. This fee covers the cost of the mediation session, scheduling and administration of the mediation and limited telephone conferences with the attorneys before and, if necessary, after the mediation session. All parties fee payments, which may be in the form of cash, cashier's check or check drawn on the bank account of a law firm and made payable to Hayden Lait, Attorney-Mediator, should be tendered within ten days of the date the mediation is set, but in no event later than the commencement of the mediation session.

ARBITRATION FEES: Arbitration fee is $300 per hour, with a minimum of 4 hours. Unless agreed otherwise, I shall assume that my fees will be divided equally between the parties. This fee covers the cost of the arbitration session, scheduling and administration of the arbitration and limited telephone conferences with the attorneys before and, if necessary, after the arbitration session. All parties fee payments, which may be in the form of cash, cashier's check or check drawn on the bank account of a law firm and made payable to Hayden Lait, should be tendered within ten days of the date the arbitration is set, but in no event later than the commencement of the arbitration session.
