Biography |
Erin E. Gleason Alvarez is a full-time mediator, arbitrator, and special master whose practice focuses on disputes relating to complex commercial issues, construction defect, insurance, corporate governance, employment, and cross-border transactions. She serves as tribunal chair, sole arbitrator, wing arbitrator, emergency arbitrator, and mediator, and has maintained a full-time neutral practice since 2017.
Ms. Gleason Alvarez brings a distinctive perspective to her work as a neutral, shaped by over 25 years of experience on all sides of complex disputes. As a litigator, she represented parties in securities, employment, and commercial disputes. As in-house counsel at American International Group, she advised business leaders and legal teams on arbitration, mediation, and settlement strategy across a broad portfolio of matters, including construction, property and casualty, financial lines, corporate litigation, and mergers and acquisitions. This experience informs every aspect of how she approaches her work as a neutral: she understands what parties and counsel need, what drives resolution, and what gets in the way.
Appointed to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals in 2025, Ms. Gleason Alvarez also serves on the CPR Institute Panel of Distinguished Neutrals, the AAA Commercial, Insurance, Financial Services, and Large Complex Case Panels, the Resolute Systems Panel, and the United Nations Global Mediation Panel. She has been recognized by Lexology (formerly Who's Who Legal) as a top global commercial mediator and by Best Lawyers for Arbitration.
Ms. Gleason Alvarez is certified by the New York State Unified Court System to conduct mediator training and teaches mediation at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University and St. John's University School of Law. More information is available at www.gleasonalvarezadr.com. |
