Cliff lectures on a variety of subjects before bar and professional groups, employer associations and unions. He was a contributor to the 1998 supplement to Lindemann & Grossman's Employment Discrimination Law, the leading treatise on the subject, and is the author of two chapters in the Employment Law Deskbook, published by the Washington State Association for Justice. |
Memberships |
Cliff is a former Chair and Trustee of the Labor & Employment Law Section of the King County Bar Association, serves as a member of the Federal Pro Bono Screening Committee, and is a member of the Washington State and American Bar Associations.
He was recognized in Best Lawyers in America, was perennially named a "Washington Super Lawyer" by Washington Law & Politics Magazine, and has been included in the "SuperLawyer Top 100." He has been listed in Washington CEO magazine as a "Top Lawyer" in Washington. In 2013, Cliff was named Puget Sound Region "Lawyer of the Year" in Labor Law by Best Lawyers in America.
In addition to his mediation and arbitration practice, Cliff has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seattle University School of Law where he has taught Employment Law, Employment Discrimination, and Legal Writing courses.
Cliff is also a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. |
Biography |
Cliff devotes a substantial amount of time serving as a mediator and arbitrator in employment and other disputes, including contractual and partnership matters . Cliff has also served as an independent investigator for employers and various federal agencies.
Cliff retired from his law practice in 2016, after 32 years with the firm Frank Freed Subit & Thomas. When he was active in his practice, he represented employees in most matters relating to their employment, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage and hour matters. He has significant experience representing executives and professionals in both contract formation and contract disputes. In addition, Cliff represented many of his firm's union clients, while also providing employment advice to a number of non-profit and charitable institutions, as well as several small businesses. |
