Biography |
With over 30 years of legal experience, Angela is a quick study of complex legal and factual issues and has a strong ability to connect with and understand the perspectives of all parties to a dispute. Since 2019, Angela has devoted her practice exclusively to the neutral roles of mediator, arbitrator, fact-finder, and special master.
For over 20 years, Angela worked closely with federal judges in the District of Kansas to help resolve numerous cases involving a wide range of federal and state laws including employment discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, and non-compete; consumer protection; civil rights; breach of contract; fraud and misrepresentation; insurance coverage; intellectual property; negligence; personal injury; product liability; professional malpractice; and various tort and business disputes. In this capacity, Angela assisted with 100+ jury and bench trials and 1,000+ court rulings on summary judgment, discovery, procedural, and evidentiary matters. She also developed extensive experience in all stages of class action and MDL proceedings.
Previously, Angela represented individuals, corporations, and governmental interests in litigation practice with two major Kansas City law firms and in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas. Her experience included handling employment, commercial, and bankruptcy matters through all stages of litigation including first and second chair trial work, court hearings, all aspects of discovery including depositions and expert witnesses, pleadings, motions practice, mediation, and settlement negotiations.
Angela is an Approved Mediator in the U.S. District Courts for Kansas and the Western District of Missouri, and in the States of Kansas and Missouri. Additionally, Angela serves as an Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Angela also currently serves on a special master legal team in the Opioid MDL pending in the Northern District of Ohio federal court. Angela is a frequent speaker on ADR topics and an active leader in several bar associations. |
