Education	SHELLEY D. HAYES graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1973 with an A.B. in History and Sociology. She received her Juris Doctorate from the George Washington University Law School in 1976.
Biography	In 1985, Ms. Hayes established a solo legal practice specializing in employment and healthcare law. Between 1987 and 1990, Ms. Hayes served as an editor with the Research Institute of America, a business advisory service, where she was responsible for publications covering employment issues and employee safety and health matters. From 1989 until 1999, Ms. Hayes was a member of the adjunct faculty, Washington College of Law, American University, where she taught introductory legal methods. Course topics included ethics for law students, appellate brief writing, and oral argument presentation.
