For 30 years Judge Dreyfus has served as an elected circuit court judge in Waukesha County from 1990 through July of 2020. During his tenure, he has presided over thousands of proceedings across all four divisions of the Circuit Court, been the presiding Judge of all 4 divisions and has successfully handled over 400 jury trials. His tenure includes a total of 8 years in the Family division and 6 years in the Civil division. He successfully presided over the historic “Oswald Trials” in 1995 and has been upheld a vast majority of the time by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Judge Dreyfus is recognized for his deep knowledge and experience in Family and Civil law proceedings. His calm demeanor, openness to all sides of a matter, respect for all parties and thoughtfulness in his decision making have earned him praise from his colleagues. Prior to his time as Circuit Court Judge, Dreyfus began his career as the elected District Attorney of Oconto County WI and then entered into general private law practice in Waukesha, WI. where he later became partner of Love, Voss, & Dreyfus. While in private practice, Dreyfus represented clients in all matters of the law including civil, family, commercial, and litigation. He has successfully argued cases before both the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and Wisconsin Supreme Court. Judge Dreyfus donated significant time to taking pro-bono cases and was recipient of the Waukesha County Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award. He was elected as the first part time Municipal Judge of the City of Waukesha Municipal Court in 1987 and continued in private practice until he was elected to the Circuit Court in 1990. |
