Stefanie J. Allweiss received her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1980, where she graduated cum laude. Ms. Allweiss practiced law for 25 years, from 1980 until 2005, specializing in the area of labor and employment law. She was a partner with the law firms of McCalla Thompson and Fisher & Phillips.
As a labor and employment attorney, Ms. Allweiss litigated and rendered advices in numerous employment related matters in both State and Federal court, as well as in Federal arbitration. She conducted independent and impartial investigations of discrimination and harassment complaints, and presented employee and supervisor training for clients in the areas of harassment, discrimination and workplace conduct.
Ms. Allweiss has been a frequent speaker for and member of the CLE Committee for the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (LADC), the Louisiana Automobile Dealership Association (LADA) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
From 2005 through 2008, Ms. Allweiss served as the Executive Director of Employee Relations and Equity for Tulane University. As Executive Director, Ms. Allweiss reviewed and resolved employee relations issues for the Tulane University community, conducted impartial investigations of harassment and discrimination complaints, and presented student, staff and faculty training in the areas of harassment, discrimination, employee relations and progressive performance management. Ms. Allweiss also conducted new hire orientation, administered the unemployment appeals process, and rendered advices to staff and faculty on University policies, progressive discipline and applicable employment laws. |
