Memberships |
Judge Maceroni is a member of the Executive Board of the Michigan Judges Association and served as President of the Association in 2003. He is also a member and past officer of the State Bar's Judicial Conference. Judge Maceroni is currently the chairperson of the Macomb County Community Corrections Advisory Board - a County Board designed to assist and provide service for individuals either charged with or convicted of non-violent offenses. The Board works closely with the Sheriff's Department and provides services in connection with substance abuse and mental health issues, as well as providing various programs aimed at making a difference in the lives of the offenders and improving the safety of Macomb County citizens. |
Biography |
Judge Maceroni received his B.A. degree from Hillsdale College in 1962 and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1965. He was in the private practice of law from 1966 through 1990. Judge Maceroni was elected to the new ninth Circuit Court Judgeship in 1990 and re-elected in 1996 and 2002. Judge Maceroni was initially elected as Chief Judge in March, 1992 and served as Chief Judge through December 31, 2004. Among the most notable accomplishments during his tenure as Chief Judge are: working with the State Court Administrative Office and assisting in the passage of the necessary legislation and approval at both the state and county levels for the creation of 3 new Circuit Court Judgeships for the county; obtaining the necessary funding from the Board of Commissioners for the inception and continuation of both the Juvenile and Criminal Divisions' Drug Court programs; implementing the Family Division of Circuit Court pursuant to the mandate contained in the Court Reform Legislation of 1997. |
