Alice D. Sullivan is retired from the Superior Court of the State of California. She now serves as a “private judge” retained by clients and attorneys to facilitate the settlement of civil cases. With agreement of the parties she serves as a mediator, arbitrator, or special master. By experience and training Judge Sullivan is uniquely qualified to adapt appropriate dispute resolution techniques to fit the needs of a particular case, the people involved, and the nature and size of the dispute.

In private practice since 1991, Judge Sullivan has successfully mediated more than 1000 cases across a broad range of issues. She has arbitrated more than 150 cases, both domestic and international. She has also served as special master to manage discovery and evidentiary proceedings with voluminous documents and complex issues. Judge Sullivan has knowledge and experience in settling intellectual property disputes involving biotechnology, software, and communications. She has managed cases involving over one hundred defendants, attorneys, and insurance providers. Disputes have involved a range of civil litigation, including commercial contracts, international licensing, ownership of intellectual property, business dissolution, real estate transactions, insurance coverage, and employment law.
