After receiving his JD from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1983, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, he was a law clerk for the Honorable Jimmy M. Stocker, Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal, and to the Honorable Lewis O. Lauve, Ninth Judicial District Court, Rapides Parish. Prior to law school, he received his BA in Economics in 1974 from the State University College of New York at New Paltz, and his MBA in 1976 from the State University of New York in Albany. |

Andrew Schaffer has 18 years of litigation experience, bench and jury trials, personal injury, products and premises liability, insurance (private and commercial motor vehicles, CGL, homeowners, casualty, life, health), medical malpractice and commercial cases.
Mr. Schaffer is a member of the Alexandria Bar Association (Executive Committee, 1999-2001), the ADR Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, the American Inns of Court of Alexandria-Pineville and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Since 1990, he has been actively involved with the United Way of Central Louisiana (Board Member, Allocations Committee Chair, Allocations Redesign Committee, Strategic Planning Committee), and since 2001, he has served as a Board Member for the Central Louisiana Pro Bono Project. In October 2001, the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board appointed him to serve as a Hearing Committee Member.
Mr. Schaffer received his initial mediator training at the Center for Dispute Settlement in 1996, Washington, DC, and has served as an arbitrator for the LSBA’s ADR Program for Legal Disputes. |
