Steven DeSmet, Esquire is engaged in the private mediation and arbitration of civil disputes with a concentration on intellectual property matters. He is also engaged in the private practice of law. Mr. DeSmet is a principal in the Law Firm of Leahy & DeSmet, LLC where he focuses his practice on intellectual property matters including patent and trademark prosecution.

Steven DeSmet brings to both his law practice and to the mediation, arbitration and neutral case evaluation of intellectual property cases and disputes his practical experience both in private practice and with the federal government as well as knowledge gained while obtaining a Masters of Law Degree in Intellectual Property from George Washington University Law School and a Degree in Biological Science from the University of Michigan. He also brings to the table of any mediation or arbitration of an intellectual property dispute his several years of work experience in the telecommunications / computer networking industry and his service as a legal fellow to the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet, and Intellectual Property.
