Lawrence A. Huerta is an experienced mediator and a seasoned litigator known for his energetic, positive approach, and tenacity in getting parties to resolve disputes. Among Mr. Huerta's distinguishing strategies for successful mediations are to provide a forum and process where parties have the opportunity to be heard and understood by each other, generating constructive options, and flexibility in the negotiation process. Other key components include diligent preparation, insuring settlement authority is present at mediation, and persistence.
Mr. Huerta has mediated and facilitated more than 750 commercial, real estate, and employment cases, including EEO claims, sexual harassment and sexual discrimination cases in a nation-wide class action, wrongful termination, and other business disputes including breach of contract, insurance coverage, real estate disputes, securities, trade secrets, defamation, and tort cases. Mr. Huerta also arbitrates commercial, real estate, and securities cases for the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the San Diego County Superior Court Mediation Panel, and the California Department of Insurance Mediation Panel. Mr. Huerta is known for his creative, energetic, and positive approach and his tenacity in helping parties find interest based, risk managed resolutions.
Mr. Huerta was selected as one of three mediators in the nation to be in the Inaugural Class of Access ADR Mediation Fellows. He has received extensive training in mediation and arbitration methods, has mediated cases across the country, and has been a speaker about mediation at American Bar Association Annual Dispute Resolution Conferences, the San Diego Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, the State Bar of California Annual Labor & Employment Conterence, and the Hispanic National Bar Association Annual Convention. Mr. Huerta has also authored the publications "What Lawyers & Clients Are Looking For in Commercial Mediation" and "Why Mediation?", the MCLE course, "Why Mediation Works and What Works Well at Mediation?", as well as a new MCLE course "How To Make Mediation Work For You and Your Client". |
