Mr. Shaller is a full-time Arbitrator and Mediator. He has arbitrated and mediated a variety of labor and employment cases in the federal, state and private sectors. He mediates and arbitrates in Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and Florida.
In 2009, Mr. Shaller was appointed by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to serve on the Foreign Service Grievance Board and, in 2011, he became the Deputy Chairman of the Board. Prior to becoming an arbitrator and mediator, Mr. Shaller worked for twenty-five years as a labor and employment attorney in private practice. He served as lead counsel in several hundred cases in a variety of forums, including, federal and state courts and administrative agencies, and in arbitrations and mediations. He also represented clients in collective bargaining and advised clients on the full gamut of labor, employment and personnel subjects, including those arising under: the National Labor Relations Act, the Railway Labor Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Employee Retirement Income and Security Act, and state labor and employment statues and common law. From 1996 - 2005, Mr. Shaller led the labor and employment law practice for the Washington, D.C. office of Krukowski & Costello, S.C. His other positions include the following: Partner (1989-1995) and Associate (1983-1989), Dow Lohnes & Albertson; Senior Attorney, Trans World Airlines, Inc. (1981-1983); and Court Law Clerk, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D. C. Circuit (1979). |
