In addition to being an attorney, Ms. Johannessen comes to mediation with significant experience in business management and human resources development and administration. She has successfully mediated disputes involving issues of contract; guardianship and conservatorship; government; employment; workplace behavior and professional conduct; insurance coverage; commercial relationships; agency; separation, divorce, and other dissolutions of relationships; access to property; property valuation; environmental responsibility; and probate. ¨

Ms. Johannessen is a qualified mediator under applicable provisions of MCR 2.410 and MCR 3.216. She serves as an Arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). She serves as a mediator for the United States Postal Service (U.S.P.S.) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She serves as an Impartial Hearing Officer and a Mediator for the Michigan Department of Career Development – Rehabilitation Services. Additionally, she is in private practice as an Appropriate Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider and Conflict Management consultant.

Ms. Johannessen is a SCAO-approved trainer for the 40-hour General Civil Mediation Training. She has also trained court, police and school personnel, business professionals, and community members in conflict resolution and mediation technique. She is an instructor at Wayne State University.
