Biography |
The Honorable John S. Martin served as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York from 1990 until 2003. From 1980 to 1983 he was the United States Attorney for that District. He is the recipient of the Emory Buckner Award from the Federal Bar Council and the Judge Edward Weinfeld Award from the New York County Lawyers Association.
In private practice Judge Martin was a partner in Johnson Hekker & Martin 1966-67; Martin Obermaier & Morvillo 1972-79; and Schulte Roth & Zabel 1979-1980 and 1983-1990. He was a sole practitioner in New York City 1969-72 and Of Counsel to Debevoise & Plimpton 2003-06. Judge Martin was a Consultant to the National Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice 1966-67 and Counsel to the Cox Commission to Study the Disturbances at Columbia University. |
