Robert Brandt served as a judge of the Chancery Court in Nashville from 1976 to 1996, and as a senior judge from 1996 to 1997. Most of the cases he presided over were commercial disputes and public policy cases involving the state government and Nashville's Metropolitan Government. He was in private practice from 1970 to 1976 and served as an Assistant District Attorney in Nashville from 1966 to 1970.

Mr. Brandt practices primarily in alternative dispute resolution. He is a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. He is a member of the Dispute Resolution Section of the American Bar Association. He is an arbitrator and mediator for the National Association of Securities Dealers, is certified by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a civil and family mediator, and is an approved mediator in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee. Mr. Brandt also serves as a Special Deputy Receiver on behalf of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.
