David Richie attended the University of Wisconsin from which he received his undergraduate degree in 1974 and law degree in 1977. He received a number of academic awards including selection to Phi Beta Kappa and Order of the Coif. While a student at the UW he attended every Badger home football game except, to his everlasting regret, the 1974 Nebraska game.

Following graduation, David traded State Street for Water Street and moved from Madison to Eau Claire to begin his legal career. The focus of his practice has been civil litigation. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants. He has tried a number of cases to verdict. He has won a few and lost a few.

David has, on numerous occasions, been asked by other attorneys to act as a mediator or arbitrator of civil disputes. In addition, many judges throughout western Wisconsin have referred cases to David for mediation. For the last ten years his practice has been devoted exclusively to alternative dispute resolution. David has arbitrated hundreds of cases and, by last count, he has mediated over 3,900 cases. If you would like him to mediate a case for you, he will gladly do it.
