Emma currently serves as General Counsel for the Tricounty Human Resource Management Association, is a trained Civil Court Mediator, a trained Guardian ad Litem and is a member of the SC Bar, SC Women Lawyers Association and the Charleston County Bar Association. She is also a member of several organizations including Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Charleston Alumnae Chapter), Jack & Jill of America, Inc. (Charleston Chapter) and SC State University National Alumni Association (Life Member). |
Biography |
With over 10 years of Human Resource Management experience, Emma Bennett-Williams is a certified Professional of Human Resource Management (PHR). Prior to attending law school, Emma worked as a Human Resources Manager at The Citadel The Military College of SC. She also received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The Citadel in 2001.
Emma concentrates her mediation practice on the resolution of employment disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, restrictive covenants and ADA and FMLA matters. She also mediates business, contract, real estate landlord-tenant and commercial matters.
Emma attended California Western School of Law and was a member of the Moot Court Honors Board, the Black Law Students Association, the Pro Bono Honor Society and the Employment and Labor Law Society. During her law school matriculation, she interned at the Employee Rights Center and in the Legal Affairs Department of Sharp Healthcare. Emma also served as a research assistant for one of her Employment and Labor Law professors and published articles in the Journal of Biolaw and Business. Immediately after law school, she held a clerkship position at the San Diego Public Defenders Office. |
