Biography John Walsh primarily handles cases involving personal injuries. Mr. Walsh also takes on business litigation cases. Mr. Walsh is a former president of the State Bar of Wisconsin. At the time of his election, he was the youngest president in State Bar history. Mr. Walsh has chaired the Veterans Memorial Committee for the Post 245 of the American Legion in Cross Plains. On Veterans Day, 2010, the Memorial was dedicated to commemorate the service of area veterans in all five branches of our Armed Forces. Mr. Walsh's practice includes all forms of motor vehicle accidents, as well as injuries involving children and the elderly. As a trial lawyer, he has represented clients with brain injuries, neurological and orthopedic injuries, burn victims and all forms of traumatic injury. He has also represented clients suffering from the death of family members. Mr. Walsh trained originally as an insurance defense attorney, but for the past 25 years has focused primarily on representing the injured. Mr. Walsh has particular experience in commercial trucking accidents. Mr. Walsh has appeared as counsel for both plaintiffs and defense in numerous cases involving death or serious injury from commercial trucking accidents. Mr. Walsh's business litigation cases have included representing a diverse range of clients from individuals to national and multinational corporations. His cases have included contract rights, contract interpretation, property rights, accounting for damages, commissions and royalties, intellectual property issues, and quantifying past and future economic losses. Mr. Walsh's work in business arbitration has included litigating (as counsel) and ruling (as arbitrator) on stock purchase agreements, business valuations, law firm dissolutions, calculating lost profits, and contract damages involving multimillion dollar corporations. Mr. Walsh has acted as Wisconsin trial counsel in intellectual property cases and represented Taylor Made, Wonder Bread, Cardinal Glass and the ownerse of the copyrights to the Charles Schultz "Peanuts" characters. Mr. Walsh is also a part-time faculty member at the University of Wisconsin School of Business. He is the principal author of two studies of "Wisconsin Injury Jury Verdicts" published by the State Bar of Wisconsin and an original contributing author to "The Law on Damages" in Wisconsin. Mr. Walsh is one of the leaders of the firm's Personal Injury Practice Group. As a former President, Mr. Walsh has served on numerous committees of the State Bar and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Mr. Walsh is a past Chairman of the Board of the State Bar and a former member of the board of directors of the State Bar's Litigation Section, and previously chaired the State Bar's Legislative Committee. He has been regularly selected by his peers to be included in the Milwaukee Magazine and the Madison Magazine Top Lawyer features, as well as in the 2001-2002, 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 editions of The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Walsh has assisted both Republican and Democratic Governors in screening judicial candidates, and served on the Governor's Task Force on the Creation of a Business Court. Mr. Walsh is presently on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Patients Compensation Fund and the Wisconsin Health Care Liability Plan.
