MICHAEL W. LaBEAU is a retired Monroe County Circuit Court Judge. He was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1974 and to the U.S. District, Eastern District of Michigan in 1974. Education: Western Michigan University (B.B.A., 1969); Detroit College of Law, now Michigan State University (J.D., 1974).

Judge LaBeau, a lifelong resident of Monroe County, was on the bench for 29 years, 5 months. When he retired on May 31, 2014 he was the longest serving Judge in the history of Monroe County. In the last survey conducted by the Monroe Evening News, he was considered fair, demanding but professional, and knowledgeable about the law. Before becoming a Judge, he had a successful private law practice, represented Frenchtown Charter Township for 6 years, and served as the elected Monroe County Prosecutor for 8 years. He is a past President of the Monroe County Bar Association. Prior to his retirement from the bench, he was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to be the Monroe County Business Court Judge. He became Of Counsel with the firm on September 1, 2014.
