Mr. Freud has maintained an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell for over three decades. He is listed in Chambers - Alternative Dispute Resolution; Who's Who in America/American Law; Who's Who of Emerging Leaders; and, Who's Who in Construction. He is admitted to practice before the Florida Supreme Court; the United States District Courts (Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida); United States Court of Appeals, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; and, the United States Supreme Court; and all state courts in Texas.

Biography |
Mr. Freud is a full-time mediator. He has handled over 5,000 mediations during his 41 years as a Trial Lawyer and Mediator in a wide variety of substantive practice areas. He is a state certified Florida and federally listed mediator (Florida) and, a Texas Credentialed Distinguished Mediator (Texas Mediator Credentialing Association).
He is a graduate of Brandeis University (B.A., magna cum laude, 1978) and the University of Miami School of Law (J.D. 1981). He is an approved Circuit Mediation Primary Trainer (thru 2022) and currently provides CME/CLE to ADR professionals/lawyers.
Specializing in pre- and post suit, multi-party, high value, layered and complex disputes, John brings a unique style and structure to each and every mediation environment. His focus is not merely on the facts of a particular conflict, but more importantly it includes a persistent effort to determine the underlying drivers of decision-making of each participant, party and lawyer alike, in the mediation process.
Whether it’s a construction defect dispute or mass tort, personal injury or wrongful death matter (e.g., FIU Bridge & Miami-Dade College Garage collapses; San Matera Homeowners Association, or Brickell House actions; PULSE Nightclub shooting matters) or any number and variety of complex matters, such as real property, business, banking, professional malpractice, product liability, class action, commercial and environmental disputes; patent, copyright, trademark and intellectual property matters; all facets of insurance, suretyship, wind-related matters, including first- and third-party claims, and bad faith; or ADA, employment discrimination, police, public official, governmental, administrative and Federal Agency conflicts, John’s disciplined and purposefully structured approach to the mediation process provides a fully engaged environment for all mediation participants to be able to navigate their way to voluntary resolution.
